A suite of new publications covering different aspects of Pacific health will provide a strong evidence base for improving Pacific health outcomes.
The papers have been developed by Ministry of Health’s Pacific health team and bring together much of the available data from throughout the sector.
The publications are:
- Improving Quality of Care for Pacific Peoples.
- Pacific Peoples and Mental Health.
- Pacific Peoples’ Experience of Disability.
- Pacific Cultural Competencies: A Literature Review.
- Pacific Child Health.
- Formalised InformalityAn action plan to spread proven health innovations.
- Pacific Youth Health
Two further papers Promoting Healthy Lifestyles and Preventing Chronic Diseases Among Pacific People and Pacific Peoples and Health Services have yet to be published. Speaking at the launch of the papers, Director General of Health, Stephen McKernan (at right) said: “There is a wealth of riches in these documents. For policy planners, clinicians and other health sector professionals. These documents will help us all to identify and prioritise health issues for Pacific peoples and to highlight the persistent health inequalities.” To view the documents go to www.moh.govt.nz/pacific.
